My Journey

I began my journey in fitness at a time when dance-inspired high impact aerobics was the craze. I taught my first class in the early ’80s. This is when I quickly discovered how an instructor’s positive attitude and energy could raise the vibes in a room. Wow! This was a powerful tool to move someone from living an inactive life to discovering joy in active living and, I felt it. This continues to feed me in ways I can not easily describe.

I often ask myself, can a hobby really turn into a career? When you find that one thing that fills your soul, how can you deny such a gift? It may sound cliche’ but, it completes you as a human being.

I had many personal goals in all aspects of fitness - receiving a bronze award in the senior AAU competition in the early ’90s to a feature spot on channel 10 in the late ’90s for a signature workout. Then, in 2016 my authentic self resonated through to a panel of judges for whom I hold great respect within the fitness industry. I received the AAAI/ISMA New England Trainer of Year award. This award means the world to me because it represents my passion for changing the aging experience.

Today, as a teacher, mentor, and friend living with valvular heart disease, arthritis, and osteoporosis, I share my philosophy of life in my teachings and interactions. As a result, I continue to see lots of success with individuals who strive to live their best life with chronic conditions. Cultivating this transformation is what continues to motivate me.

This is my authentic self, my purpose in life, and I feel blessed.
